Oh, f(x)=x+1 is the equation of the line f(x) up until x=2. Then after x=2, the line changes to be non-linear, but that doesn't matter here. Basically, we can see that as x approaches 1, g(x) approaches 2. And, as g(x) approaches 2, f(g(x)) approaches 3. That's where we get 3 as the answer
