Imagine that you were working with a mutant yeast cell of the a-mating type that has a mutant version of STE18 Gene thats makes a defective version of the STE18 protein. The defective STE18 protein is bound to GTP all the time and can't hydrolyze GTP to GDP. (Thus, the defective STE18 protein is always on.) Predict what will happen to these STE18 mutant cells if you grow them in culture without alpha-factor present.
