The first one is Literacy tests and the grandfather clause. The Grandfather clause basically just plain refused to let African Americans the right to claim suffrage, and the literacy tests were there because most African Americans were uneducated, so they were unable to pass them.

Hanna:

That's what I thought too but I already said that and I got it wrong

Hanna:

Oh I got 2 tries on this.

JustSaiyan:

The second one is Separate but equal, hastened the Jim Crow laws, and of course, negated the 14th amendment.

JustSaiyan:

All of these basically meant that African Americans were labeled as equal, but they weren't, and when no one was watching, they were treated worse than one could imagine, especially after the Jim Crow laws.

Hanna:

Is there any other answers you know for the second question?

Hanna:

Sorry I men first question Oops

Hanna:

*mean I can't spell today

JustSaiyan:

The first? hmm. Well. Sharecropping had absolutely nothing to do with voting. Poll taxes would work, but it didn't just keep black people from voting, it kept poor people in general from voting, both whites and blacks.

Hanna:

Yeah but I have no idea because I really thought it would be Grandfather clause and literacy tests but I'll ask my teacher about it. Thank you so much

JustSaiyan:

You're welcome.

Hanna:

Oh btw you got the second one right thank you!

JustSaiyan:

You're welcome!
