Select the outlier in the data set. 85, 84, 71, 86, 89, 266, 90, 87, 98, 76, 97, 81, 83, 80 If the outlier were removed from the data set, would the mean increase or decrease? A. increase B. decrease
@SmokeyBrown
its gonna increase but i just dont know what the outlier is
a.) increase
i think the outlier is 81 or around there
An outlier is a number that lies far away from other data points. Which number is. vastly different than the others?
266??
266 is the outlier
i got to agree with 266
What about the second part, what do you think?
I am guessing you went with increase. The answer was decrease.
Because the mean is the average, taken by adding up all of the numbers then dividing the sum by the quantity of numbers. The sum is going to be much smaller, and it doesn’t matter that you are dividing by 13 instead of 14.
