What is the area of this figure? Write your answers using decimals, if necessary. ______ square yards
@SmokeyBrown
Break the shape into multiple shapes then calculate each of their areas, then add them up. I see squares, rectangles, and triangles.
For squares and rectangles, calculate their area by multiplying the length by the height. For the triangle, multiple the base by the height, then by 1/2.
You will have to use the lengths of some of the other sides to determine the measurements of some shapes. It looks like a lot but give it some time and its a relatively simple problem.
would it be 72 if my calculations are wrong
I haven’t worked it out since I am on mobile/in a car. But the total area would be greater than 72. Did you solve for a smaller shape?
yes from my calculations it's 34
or 23
what shape..
square
What measurements does it have? and where is it?
8
@silvernight269
are you guessing because these numbers dont make sense
i'm kind of in a rush right now shadow
I am on mobile so I can’t draw this out to help you. So if you don’t work with me, I am afraid I can’t help you.
Divide the shape into three rectangles and a triangle. This seems to be the easiest way.
i think it would be 72
You should have a 4 by 9, 10 by 3, and a 15 by 5. Then the triangle is 4 by 4.
so 36 + 30 + 75 + 16(1/2)
see how the number is much greater than 72?
149
yes
