Define two points on the graph first. What two points can you point out?

Razor:

Well I really never learned how to define it. Or asked. Can you explain how to define the points?

563blackghost:

To define points you analyze the line on the graph. Wherever the line meets a cross it is a point.

563blackghost:

So you would find dat cross and count the y-coordinates and x-coordinates to define your point.

Razor:

iz the cross the line the the orgin or through the y and x lines?

Razor:

-4 and -1?

Razor:

@563blackghost

Razor:

welp she left @dude e,e yew up

dude:

What do you mean by -4,-1, mean then x values -4 and -1?

Razor:

The points I defined... I tink :T

dude:

All my writing just disappeared. I'm slightly annoyed by that. ._.

dude:

Anyway points are written as (x,y) x is in the horizontal line and y is the vertical line To find a point look at a place in the blue line, and look up/down for the x value and then left/right for the right value ex. T7vhSZ6QTrShSlWrpr_t-Q.png

Razor:

ohhhhhhh so Too define the points I use rise/run ?

dude:

Yeah

Razor:

Okay

Razor:

since my points are 1,-7 and 1 what dew I dew now?

dude:

Write them as (x,y) (1,-7) and

Razor:

1? and 1? XD

dude:

(1,1) does not lie in the line

dude:

The x value is on the negative side :P

Razor:

o

Razor:

I say o but I honestly am very confuzed... sorry tew frustrate yew I'm a visual learner more or less iz this right?

Razor:

ohhhhhhh.....o su if the point being defined iz 1 that makes the poitn 1 e,e ......i might need tew write dis down brb

dude:

That point is (-1,1)

Razor:

got it cuz iz also part of the x and y axis

dude:

Yes, so now that we have 2 points we can find the distance (-1,1) = \((x_1,y_1)\) and (1,-7) = \((x_2,y_2)\) Find the rise over run between those points

dude:

Start from (-1,1)

Razor:

the rise and one for -1,1 would be just either 1 or 2 right? Or dew I have to put it in the y=mx+/-b equation?
