Anatomy Tutorial: Anatomy of the Trachea

Moon:

|dw:1541277649741:dw| note: for the purposes of this tutorial I will only be going over the locations of the components rather than their functions, for memorization purposes

Moon:

first, divide the trachea into three main components: the hyoid bone (attachment site), the larynx (the voicebox), and the trachea (the windpipe) |dw:1541277795642:dw|

Moon:

the broad blue sections are tracheal cartilages and in between them are the annular ligaments |dw:1541277856317:dw|

Moon:

at the branching point of the primary bronchi, is the carina / internal ridge |dw:1541277947180:dw|

Moon:

the two circular labels are given to the roots of the right and left lung respectively as usual, R and L designations are given from the perspective of the subject not the observer|dw:1541278019049:dw|

Moon:

now on the left lung the upper branch is the superior lobar bronchus, the lobar bronchus, and the inferior lobar bronchus|dw:1541278176367:dw| unfortunately the divisions on the right side are a bit more complicated than that due to the larger size of the lung

Moon:

the inferior lobar bronchus is divided into the middle inferior and the inferior bronchus |dw:1541278318255:dw|
