Choose one of the main characters from The Most Dangerous Game you have read in this course. Write a 3-4 paragraph analysis of the character. • Identify the character’s name, the title of the work, and the author. • Include a thesis at the end of your introduction that names one or more character traits or motivations that contribute to the theme of the story (this is what you’re trying to “prove”) • Organize your analysis around a thesis that you state in the introductory paragraph. • Develop your thesis in the body of the analysis, supporting your ideas with evidence from the fiction text.

I love this book. I think I even did this assignment in 7th grade. Give me 10 minutes to write you up something.

General Zaroff, the main antagonist of "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell My personal theory is not that Zaroff is evil, it's that he is mentally unstable and simply lusts for a challenge, so that he might once more enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Being a skilled hunter, he has hunted many many animals, as stated in the story. However, animals aren't capable of the same level of problem solving as humans are, making other humans a perfect prey for Zarroff. This is supported by Zaroff saying " “That is why I use them. It gives me pleasure. They can reason, after a fashion. So they are dangerous.”.Zaroff then begins explaining to Rainsford that he will sometimes get sailors washed ashore, as well as Zaroff using traps to destroy passing ships. On the first night of the hunt, when Zarroff easily tracked Rainsford to the tree in which he was hiding, Zaroff intentionally acted as if he wasn't aware Rainsford were there. "But the sharp eyes of the hunter stopped before they reached the limb where Rainsford lay; a smile spread over his brown face. Very deliberately he blew a smoke ring into the air; then he turned his back on the tree and walked carelessly away, back along the trail he had come" this shows that Zaroff wants to prolong the game for as long as possible, given Rainsfords reputation. Further backing up this idea, whenever Rainsford used a trap to injure Zaroffs should, Zaroff neither fell, nor dropped his firearm. "“Rainsford,” called the general, “if you are within sound of my voice, as I suppose you are, let me congratulate you. Not many menknow how to make a Malay man-catcher. Luckily for me, I too have hunted in Malacca. You are proving interesting, Mr. Rainsford. I am going now to have my wound dressed; it’s only a slight one. But I shall be back. I shall be back.” These lines unmistakably show that Zarroff is enjoying himself in the game, and once more allows Rainsford to escape.
