QC PSA: "osht" counts as bypassing. I have seen it numerous times by multiple people who have been warned about it. It seems to be popular, which is why I am making this post.

Shadow:

I have seen several people try to make an argument against it counting as bypassing, though it doesn't work out in my opinion. If you think it doesn't, post below.

Shadow:

Yes, I am sure this is what you mean.

Valirium:

This is probably a stupid question, but how's it any different than "lmao"?

ThisGirlPretty:

Because with *osht* it sounds like they're trying to bypass the s word. Lmao can be like laughing my apples off or something.

Valirium:

Maybe "Osht" could be used as "Oh shoot" or something like that.

Shadow:

Of course, but that's not how it's being used.

ThisGirlPretty:

They could have eaisly said that then ._. or *oh snap*

Shadow:

Whenever I delete it, people are like "sorry" not like "oh I meant shoot."

Shadow:

So that nullifies that argument.

lowkey:

Then should I start saying, lmo? Laugh my off? Also what you're doing is extremely useless, I agree with val

Pixel:

osht

Pixel:

Operating system Hates traffic

AngeI:

Solution, ocrp

Falconmaster:

ban me daddy

Shadow:

I think the problem I have with it, is that it's only one letter off from the actual word. It's more explicit in what it means, whereas lmao is just laughter and less explicit.

Pixel:

ohshoot

ThisGirlPretty:

What I was trying to say, couldn't explain it ಠ_ಠ

Pixel:

thats 3 letter ಠ_ಠ

Shadow:

Anymore spamming = suspension. Trying to work out a solution.

lowkey:

I see your point. But osht means oh sh*t Lmao obviously means laugh by a** off. it's the same thing. If you think 'osht' is a bannable word, then 'lmao' should be as well. Either way they stand for bad words anyway, so it's not fair to ban someone to use osht but not lmao.

Valirium:

"Osht" is a form of expression such as surprise, amazement etc. "Lmao" is not far off from that imo.

Shadow:

I'm going to take it up with the moderator team. The three avenues will likely be: both terms not being allowed, one allowed and the other not (due to connotation), and both allowed. If you have thoughts on any of these, do share them for reference.

Pixel:

i think "osh1t" is bypassing

lowkey:

There are bigger problems than a simple word 'osht' If you have time to not allow words like that, there are bigger words like deadass, headass, and hoe

AngeI:

Hoe is not an insult, ho is which should be censored. Hoe is a gardening tool

Shadow:

Yeah, those are on the chopping block as well.

lowkey:

It's the same thing. One thing shouldn't be allowed because they both cover up a bad word.

AngeI:

Hoe and ho are not the same thing

AngeI:

they cant even be used in the same way since the two different meanings

lowkey:

Shadow's a hoe Shadow's a ho Means the same to me

Shadow:

Your objectification is sexist and disgusting.

AngeI:

Well then you are mistaken my friend. One is you called him a gardening tool, the other is you called him sometime that should not be explained on this site.

Razor:

o-o This iz a weird arguement?

Pixel:

hoe should be punishable if you're referring to a human, other than angel

Razor:

Does oh sh-- count as bypassing?

Shadow:

Yes, because of what it is obviously referring too.

lowkey:

Razor. Hun we talked about this.

Shadow:

No one is like "oh shoe"

lowkey:

OH SHOE IT ISN'T?

Razor:

I use it all the time when mods are around yet no one tells me or deletes it so I always thought it was okie

KittyGirl:

what about shiz?

Pixel:

duh

Shadow:

Yeah I mean, consistent with considering sh*t bypassing for example, "ohsht" counts as well.

Shadow:

Kitty, same thing

lowkey:

IM CRYINGGGG I WAS GOING TO SAY I THOUGHT OSHT MEANT OH SHAT BECAUSE I THOUGHT SHAT WAS A REAL WORD BUT ITS THE PAST TENSE OF SHT LMOOOOOO IM CRYINGG

Razor:

Shadow iz actually supporting his argument well people su XD

Shadow:

I'm glad we have allowed for you to become enlightened...

lowkey:

THANK YOU

dude:

I personally do not use osht to literally mean what is stands for. I use is because I am used to it and wouldn't be normal for me to react like that. Like lmao, I don't actually mean to laugh my bum off, I just use it to express my feeling to a certain comment, lmao and (the acronym with the f) are not used in literate terms. Now other people actually just go off and exaggerate the thing and go overboard, maybe that is what you want to prevent? I don't think it should be punishable ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Razor:

^^^^

Shadow:

First off, thank you for a reasonable argument.

lowkey:

We don't actually laugh our Air off, we just say it to express laughter, and osht is used to express suprise

lowkey:

Mine is reasonable, you gave me reason to get hype

Razor:

I don't use sh-- to be mean or rude just an expression *-* I knew there was a reason I said it

Shadow:

Made my post in the moderator chat. We'll see how things play out over the rest of the week. I'll keep you guys updated.

Shadow:

Just to be clear, I presented arguments for both sides, as well as linking this post. Your voice is important to us.

Elsa213:

Your text is important to us.*

Ultrilliam:

Rule 1 of modchat is don't talk about modchat

Shadow:

k guys we don't have a mod chat. we communicate through smoke signals

Shadow:

:^)

Ultrilliam:

Much better LOL

AngeI:

Ultri you told everyone how mods have a chat countless times

Valirium:

I sense a fallacy. e.e

Razor:

logical fallacy alert =~=

lowkey:

LMOOOOOOO

Elsa213:

If QC makes `osht` illegal, wouldn't this post be illegal for containing the three letter word `osht`? Just questioning. Alsoyewdeletedmaiosht.

Shadow:

How are we supposed to discuss something we can't mention?

Ultrilliam:

No, because it would have existed pre-osht ban

Shadow:

^that too

Shadow:

Mentioning the term for no reason is just spam.
