misc. vocab from lesson 5 对不起 duibuqi (403) meaning sorry, combining the characters 对 (right) 不 (not) and 起 (to start/torise) 可以 keyi (33) to be able to, using the same 可 from 可乐 要 yao(4) to want talking about locations --> 在 zai(4) to be located at/in/on, functions as a verb or a preposition depending on sentence structure 哪儿 na/nar (30) --> where? so ______ 在哪儿? ---> where is ________ new location introduced: 学校 xuexiao (24) meaning school; uses 学 which means to study

Moon:

two new particles, that both soften the tone of a sentence ya and ba 呀 ends questions; 吧 ends commands two ways to say "a little" or to a slight extent 一下 一点 similar meaning but 一下 emphasizes the verb and 一点 emphasizes the object

Lesson 5 dialogue 2 is pretty short (not really a dialogue tbh) we introduce some new verbs to use to describe friend gatherings 玩儿 wan(er) (2) to have fun/hang out/play 聊天 (liaotian) (21), to chat. this character 聊 is kind of a pain to write but try to make it look like one concise character instead of three separate radicals. same 天 for "sky" new location introduced: 图书馆 tushuguan (213), meaning library. 书 means book, as we learned before. the first radical 图 means diagram (kind of looks like a book if it helps you remember), 馆 means building 回家 (huijia) (21), 回 meaning to return, 家 meaning home. 回 is basically the radical kou enclosed in a box, and 家 if you remember from before, is the character for pig under the roof radical 才 cai(2); not until

this is actually getting a bit longer than expected so I'm gonna put lesson 6 stuff in another tut. Source is Integrated Chinese, 4th edition, Liu et. al.
