Some archaeologists debate the type of influence the Olmec had on later Mesoamerican cultures. They generally argue one of these ideas: 1) All later Mesoamerican cultures derived from the Olmec. 2) The Olmec freely communicated ideas with other contemporary peoples. Which of the following possible scenarios, if true, supports the second argument? The Olmecs broke into rival groups that eventually became separate peoples. Olmec ruins were uncovered and studied by the Zapotec centuries after the Olmecs disappeared. The Olmecs shared pottery technology with neighboring groups, and together they developed a popular pottery style. After disease nearly wiped out all the Olmecs, a small band of survivors moved elsewhere and rebuilt.

The Olmec, had developed different ways of culture that we all do right now. They popularized jade masks and even pottery. Another fact about the Olmec is that they had a great communication with people, that is why their influence is evident.
