I think C would be the best answer, just from what I know of the book
In the evacuation scene in Night by Elie Wiesel, the starving prisoners are forced to march for miles in snow. Over the course of the march, what does the snow come to symbolize? A. the presence of hope even in the worst circumstances B. the beauty and order of the natural world C. the will of human beings to endure any hardship D. the universe's indifference to human suffering
If I remember correctly, the answer should either be B or D. I can't remember the passage in detail though
what is your strongest choice ?
D. the universe's indifference to human suffering
Well, my first instinct was to go with B, but I trust your judgment. You have read the book more recently than I have, so you would know better.
In Night, Elie Wiesel frequently describes the crematoria, where the bodies of concentration camp prisoners are burnt and where smoke issues continually from the chimney. What effect does this image have on the memoir? A. It hints that later, American bombers will shatter the chimney. B. It creates suspense about what will happen to Eliezer. C. It makes Eliezer seem cowardly for not attempting to escape from the camp. D. It reinforces the horror of the Nazi Holocaust.
Hm, I think D would be the only choice I like out of these
Read this excerpt from Night by Elie Wiesel. One day when I was able to get up, I decided to look at myself in the mirror…From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. What does this image from the excerpt mean? A. The author can see the dead bodies in the background of the hospital room. B. The author sees the face of his dead father staring back at him. C. The author recognizes that he is spiritually and emotionally dead. D. The author realizes that he will soon die.
I think the "corpse" in this passage is figurative, so C would be the best answer
How does the author use the incident of Idek attacking Eliezer in the warehouse and the French girl comforting him to advance the plot of the story in Night? Select each correct answer. A. The incident demonstrates how violence is an ever-present threat for everyone. B. The incident shows that while some are driven to cruelty by their terrible circumstances, others take great risks to show kindness. C. The incident conveys the idea that certain people are not able to evolve over time. D. The incident reveals that Wiesel’s time at Buna is growing short, even if he does not yet realize it.
I think A and B would definitely be correct, and D might be correct as well.
1) What is the general topic of your speech? How will you focus this topic? (NOTE: you can choose a topic explaining ‘how to’ do something you know about, or maybe you want to describe a tradition, history, or event you have researched). Maybe you even want to deliver a persuasive speech on the topic of your argumentative essay, or your memoir you wrote earlier in the semester. The topics are open! my top is Why cigarette smoking should be banned
2) What thesis do you intend to develop in your speech? Remember that a thesis should be written in a complete sentence. Your thesis should have your topic, position and rationale. (10 points) Answer:
Ok, for the topic of why cigarette smoking should be banned, I guess it would make sense to consider the effects of cigarette smoke. Are there any important costs or benefits? And why would they be important? The structure of the thesis is laid out for you. Basically, just state your topic, your viewpoint, and a brief overview of your reasons for taking that position.
thanks for your help
