[ OPEN FOR REFERENCE ] TIPS on writing article response papers!! (I already finished this class but am leaving it open for others) ► How does one write a response paper (assuming this is minimum/around 3 paragraphs??) regarding an article about a social issue, while integrating information from SIX sources? (PowerPoint notes count as sources; we need three different types of source) *** NOTE: this is not asking for someone to write out the essay. I asked this because I don't have clear instructions from my teacher so I need help structuring it

kittybasil:

@Shadow

kittybasil:

Here's more samples if it helps

Vocaloid:

have you decided a topic yet or looked at any sources? I've found that creating an outline of the essay and choosing what sub-topics to cover in each paragraph, will naturally guide this process, since you will choose the source to include as a way to back up your statements, rather than just including a source for its own sake

kittybasil:

There's one source that we have to use, so I'd be mainly analyzing quotes from said source

Vocaloid:

that's good, as you come up with ideas you can try searching for sources that back up or argue against your claim

kittybasil:

yeah I'm just having issues trying to formulate structure

kittybasil:

because if it's short I have to figure out ways to word it that can cut down on inane phrases etc `I tend to write rather long essays`

kittybasil:

oh sorry It's supposed to be an analysis paper, not an argument paper

Vocaloid:

since this is an informative essay I'd start by introducing the basics of the topic in one paragraph, basic history of the issue, basic terminology, then from there you can branch out into subtopics like 2) what it means for the greater context of psychology/sociology, 3) what are some prevailing ideologies regarding the issue, etc.

Shadow:

That's what it looked like based on the samples, haha.

kittybasil:

ah idk if this was mentioned in the attached documents but `We're supposed to analyze different sociological perspectives that are touched upon by specific quotes in the article`

kittybasil:

still pretty vague though :/

kittybasil:

I've got class now, sorry

Shadow:

Hmm no that wasn't in the documents. If you post the article, perhaps I could be of more help.

kittybasil:

@Shadow okay, I've uploaded it

Eiwoh2:

The answer is yes. Sorry for being a year late. ;(

Eiwoh2:
