Mandarin Translation Exercise: "My younger sister did not learn Chinese well. She didn't like listening to the audio and didn't practice speaking, so she did not speak well. She didn't like studying grammar or writing characters. That was why she didn't do well on the exams. But after she met a Chinese friend, they often reviewed Chinese together in the library. Now, she likes listening to the audio and she also write characters pretty well.

Vocaloid:

我妹妹学中文学得不好。 她不喜欢听录音了,不练习说话,所以他说话说得不好。 她不喜欢学语法还是写子,所以考试考得不好。 但是,他认识中国朋友以后,他们在图书馆常常一起练习中文。她现在喜欢听录音,也写字写得不错。

Vocaloid:

@kittybasil @mhchen @angle sorry if this is a lot but I would really appreciate a double check on this

mhchen:

I'd start it with wo 'de' mei mei ... "不喜欢听录音了" since you added a 'le' at the end it's past tense well I guess it works but it sounds weird in my head lol "[ye] 不练习说话" I'd add a 'ye' here so it's like "AND didn't practice speaking "语法还是写子" 'hai shi' does mean 'or' but it's used like xor (like when someone is making a decision and it can't be both choices). I'd replace 'hai shi' with 'huo' 或 他认识 'ren shi' is more like recognizing someone rather than meeting them. I'd replace 'ren shi' with 'yu dao' 遇到 and then I'd add 'yi ge' cause it also sounds better in my head but idk what grammar rule it'd fit under Also '他' is masculine change it to feminine 她 她遇到一个中国朋友... 他们在图.. even though you used the masculine version of 'ta' I think you're fine here cause the friend could be a male I think everything else looks fine

Vocaloid:

Thank you so much ~

Angle:

Well done :) I completely agree with everything mhchen has already stated also, the very last phrase can be changed to "写字也写得不错。" where the "ye" is between the repeating verbs
