1) If I recall correctly, Elie and the other prisoners traveled from Buna to Gleiwitz in the snow by foot. 2) Juliek played the violin, a Beethoven tune, over the mass of dead bodies as an act of defiance and sort of as a tribute to the prisoners who died. 3) From what I remember, Elie created some kind of commotion that helped his father slip away from the grouo that was to be cremated. 4) The Germans assumed that Elie's father was dead until Elie striked his face to bring him back to consciousness. 5) I believe it was a piece of bread they fought over. 6) 100 prisoners got onto the train but only 12 survived.
