|dw:1543539239218:dw| my method: start with diethyl malonate, add NaOCH2CH3 ( i think? to match the ethyl groups on the malonate?) , add CH3Br, use H3O+ to convert both the ethyl groups to COOH groups, then use heat to take off one of the COOH groups?
