How do I make effective mind maps for studying? Sorry, this is in writing. I didn't know what subject to put this question under.
Mind maps are useful for memorizing large bodies of information. They work by forming a hierarchy, making direct relationships between terms that allow for effective memorization. Since hierarchies depend on those above and below it, if you can remember a couple of terms on the exam, you can likely eventually recall the rest of the mind map. Just in case you are not away, hierarchies are structures of power. They can be as simply as a father and son dynamic, or kings with generals who have lieutenants and they have analysts and so on. One mind map that was useful for me dealt with AP Gov, in which for the exam it was essential to memorize checks and balances that each branch of the federal government had on each other, such as the President being able to draft executive orders to circumvent Congress on policy, and the Supreme Court being able to block those executive orders, and Congress being able to reshape the Supreme Court. If you would like me to go more in depth into how to create them, let me know. But they are as simple as having physical representations of them in your mind (imagery works) then designations of who has power of what and what gives them that power.
