@dude @Razor @Elsa213

dude:

Do you know how to solve absolute value equations?

Nevey:

kinda, but its been a bit.

dude:

Try to solve the first one (There should be 2 solutions for each equation)

Nevey:

can u start it for me? once its started i should be able to do it

dude:

\(|3x-1|+7=2\) and \(|3x-1|+7=-2\)

Nevey:

k so i got to \[\left| 3x-8 \right|\]

Nevey:

= -2

Nevey:

idk y it didnt add that .-.

dude:

How did you get -8?

Nevey:

i took the +7 and cancled it out with a -7 thn added -7 to -1

dude:

No no \(|3x−1|+7=2\) Subtract 7 on both sides \(3x-1=-5\)

Nevey:

ops .-.

dude:

Its okay

Nevey:

k so i entered tht in desmos and got

Nevey:

meaning that equation 1 does have a solution

dude:

Uhh

Nevey:

?

dude:

That is one of the solutions, yes

dude:

You have to solve for the second solution

dude:

\(|3x-1|+7=-2\)

Nevey:

no, that was it. see?

Nevey:

all i have to do now is find out if equation 2 has a solution or not

Nevey:

if not, its C, and if it does thn its D

dude:

Oh yeah sure that works solve for the second equation \(|2x+4|+1=3\) and \(|2x+4|+1=-3\)

dude:

I have to go right now but tag someone to take over

Nevey:

k i think i got this one now :) ok

Nevey:

no solution, meaning its C. thx for the help :)
