arrange these DNA milestones in chronological order by putting a number from 1 (the earliest) to 11 (the most recent) next to each milestone. __________ The Human Genome project was completed. __________ Linus Pauling proposed the triple helix. __________ Mendel published his study of pea plants to determine the laws of inheritance. __________ Hershey and Chase confirmed that DNA is genetic material using their famous density gradient centrifuge technique. __________ Matthew Stanley Meselson and Franklin William Stahl proved semi conservative replication, showing how DNA unzips to split into two pieces before replicating. __________ Rosalind Franklin used x-ray diffraction to determine the structure of DNA. She proposed a helical structure with the phosphate groups on the outside. __________ Thomas Hunt Morgan published findings from an examination of genetics of fruit flies and determines chromosomes are the basis for heredity. __________ Arthur Kornberg discovered DNA polymerase, the molecule that is responsible for assembling parts of DNA during replication. __________ Reverse Transcriptase was discovered by David Baltimore and Howard Martin Temin. __________ Marshall Warren Nirenberg deciphered the genetic code __¬¬¬¬_________Alec Jeffreys developed DNA fingerprinting.

This is nothing more than a simple time-line. Know the dates and you have your answer. 2003 HGP November 25, 1952 Linus Paul triple helix (this one has an exact date because it will conflict with Hershey and Chase date) 1865 Mendel published results 1952 Hershey and Chase confirmed that DNA is genetic material(I don't know the exact date, nor can I find it anywhere, so we can assume it was before Linus Paul) 1957 Matthew Stanley Meselson and Franklin William Stahl proved semi conservative replication 1953 Rosalind Franklin published 1915 Thomas Hunt Morgan published findings 1956 Arthur Kornberg discovered DNA polymerase 1970something Reverse Transcriptase was discovered(exact date not really needed because none of the others are in the 70s) 1966 Marshall Warren Nirenberg deciphered the genetic code 1984 First use of fingerpinting. That means the order is like this, from the top: 11, 5, 1, 4, 7, 3, 2, 6, 9, 8, 10
