What products and items do homeless people need?
food
food, shelter, and water, and possibly a job to get back on their feet
somewhere to shower (if they want to get a job) so that they are accepted, bc no one is going to hire a dirty stinky person .-.
I looked it up and some of the top hits was hygiene products and specific articles of clothing, such as socks. I am not sure if this is just for cold places though, or that fact that this is an uncommon item given to them that they need (I live in Hawaii so it's not that hot).
Definitely doing at least food and water, throwing in a fresh pair of socks and some 'hygiene products.' Any other suggestions are welcome.
I meant not that cold*
Are you talking about homeless shelters or homeless people in general?
Good question. Homeless people in general. My question is a bit broad, it is more aimed at what a normal person could give them. I am not exactly in a position to give them a job for example, even though it is something they need.
I would say stuff like blankets or like a sleeping bag/tent, food/water, possibly a First Aid kit, hygiene products such as deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrush, etc.
shelter is all they seriously need, blankets and stuff is not necessarily needed, only preferred. hygiene is also kind of needed and much preferred, but it isnt something needed to the point of death. 3 basic needs is all need, but much more is wanted.
Poor hygiene could cause problems to occur. For example: if you don't brush your teeth regularly or much at all, you could develop oral diseases & such. Also, while blankets aren't "necessarily needed," it could provide comfort & warmth, especially on cold nights.
Personal hygiene Divide is very important. Canned goods might help the hungry as well as blankets for the cold winters
Money.
Thank you for all the suggestions guys. A box is in the works. One of the homeless people we know of is by a Walmart so we will probably do a Walmart gift card. I am personally opposed to giving money due to the temptation. They can buy cigs/alcohol but at least not the hard stuff, directly.
