A. △FHK is similar to △GHJ by the SSS Similarity Theorem . B. △FHK is similar to △GHJ by the SSA Similarity Theorem . C. △FHK is similar to △GHJ by the SAS Similarity Theorem . D. △FHK is not similar to △GHJ .

@Shadow

MARC:

Side-Side-Side (SSS) Similarity Theorem - If the lengths of the corresponding sides of two triangles are proportional, then the triangles must be similar. \(\frac{FH}{GH}=\frac{HK}{HJ}\) \(\frac{22}{10}=\frac{33}{15}\) \(2.2=2.2\) Thus,the lengths of the corresponding sides of two triangles are proportional. Therefore,the triangles are similar. Hope,this helps.

bill533:

it's C ?

@MARC

MARC:

Nope,good try tho XD Hint : Side-Side-Side (SSS) Similarity Theorem - If the lengths of the corresponding sides of two triangles are proportional, then the triangles must be similar. Since,we were able to prove that the lengths of triangle FHK and triangle GHJ are proportional ,therefore both the triangle must be similar.

MARC:

The Side Angle Side postulate states that if two sides and the included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides and the included angle of another triangle, then these two triangles are congruent. pssss,we weren't given any information about the angles of \(\triangle~FHK~~~and~~~\triangle~GHJ\)

MARC:

bill533:

I Can't see it sorry

MARC:

we weren't given any information about the angles of those triangles meaning to say \(SAS~theorem~~~and~~~SSA~theorem\) is not applicable for both the triangles

bill533:

When two triangles have corresponding angles that are congruent and corresponding sides with identical ratios, that would mean that the triangles are similar.

MARC:

Option D is wrong Because both the triangles are similar

MARC:

wait,let me check again Hmmm

MARC:

ah,u r right SSS theorem is not applicable because they didnt give all the sides SAS theorem is applicable although they didnt give the angle,but from the diagram it looks like both the triangles of the angle are congruent

bill533:

ok i hope you thought i was right

NOTE: Figures are not drawn to scale. https://static.k12.com/nextgen_media/assets/1582624-IM2_150227_2_Q018Q.jpg Which triangle is △ABC similar to and why? A. △ABC is similar to △GHI by AA Similarity Postulate . B. △ABC is similar to △JKL by AA Similarity Postulate . C. △ABC is similar to △DEF by AA Similarity Postulate . D. △ABC is not similar to any of the triangles given.
