Research questions ideas about the Prenatal Period regarding the child or mother? Also name out the Independent Variable and Dependent Variable**
IV: causal factor/what is manipulated DV: the result of the IV
Any thoughts on how you’d start the researcy quesrion?
When a mother is pregnant with twins, is it true one twin can "eat" the other?
Not sure if this is a good one :/
@Shadow @Vocaloid
example may be: If a mother has a prescription for a pre-existing medical condition (a heart condition, diabetes etc.) that she can't go off of, does that have an effect on physical and mental development in the prenatal stages? IV: Mothers pre-existing medical condition that requires a prescription DV: Physical and mental development in prenatal stages
just my two cents that question feels a bit too "yes-or-no"-y rather than a research question this is a low-hanging fruit but possibly the effects of the mother's dietary choices/lifestyle choices, etc. on the child's mental health
yeah that question about medications sounds good to me
The medications questions is an example that the prof gave :')
rip
I know is it possible that a baby can be fully developed before the 9 months are over?
I mean you could just do a similar study just with some other Independent variable instead of medications
oh i know
If the mother is strictly on dangerous drugs such as heroin or meth, can the baby be affected. If so, to what extent?
good the dependent variable can just be "fetal development" but I would personally be a bit more specific and say something like "incidence of physical defects in the fetus" or something
If the mother is strictly on dangerous drugs such as heroin or meth, can there be incidence of physical defects in the fetus. IV: Drugs that the mother consumes DV: fetal development
OR: If the mother is strictly on dangerous drugs such as heroin or meth, can there be incidences of mental illnesses that the fetus has IV: Drugs that the mother consumes DV: fetal development
idk which one :/
it's not really "can there be" but more like "Does the mother's use of dangerous drugs...etc... have an affect on the incidence of physical deformities in the fetus"
okay and then for a discussion question? that would be more of a yes/no right
hm. this one is a bit harder. I'm trying to think about questions that are still within the realm of psychology that you could ask.
What about : What tales or myths have you heard about pregnancy or does your family follow. And do you feel any of them are true?
just throwing this out there, "What therapies/treatments might be effective in helping someone who is pregnant overcome a drug addiction"?
"What sorts of rationale/thought processes might lead someone to abuse drugs while pregnant"?
Or maybe a: What Mental Illlnesss/Disorder would be the worst that would disable you to safely take care of your child
don't know if the wording for this is right? :/
hmm maybe not "the worst" (that's a bit subjective) but maybe "How might other mental disorders, besides drug addiction, affect one's ability to take care of a child"?
perfect, thanks!
