So, while doing some research I found this: A rectangular prism has a rectangle as its base . A rectangle is a parallelogram with all angles 90 degrees and opposite sides of equal length. When we cut a cross section is  cut at an angle to the base of a right rectangular prism  the shape is that of a parallelogram. A parallelogram has opposite sides parallel and equal.
