Bart jumped on his owner’s bed and started his daily routine. "Mom, it’s time to get up," meowed Bart. "I want some attention." Mom covered up her head and ignored him, so Bart started pawing at the blankets. "I’m trying to sleep, Bart," she said. "It’s three o’clock in the morning, and I have to get ready for work in a few hours. You sleep 16 hours a day, but you’re never asleep when I am. Give me a few more hours to sleep, and then I will pet you." "No way, Mom! I really need to be petted immediately. I can’t go another second without attention. Besides, you can sleep later. I’m your cat, and nothing is more important than my needs." Mom was determined to sleep, so Bart decided to tempt her with fun. He grabbed a catnip mouse from the floor, put it on the bed, and started playing with it, kicking it all over the bed. Mom grabbed the mouse and put it under her pillow. She was in no mood for fun. She just wanted sleep. "Mom, how can you resist the opportunity to pet me? Well, I guess I could use a little nap. Trying to wake you up really wears me out," Bart said. A few hours went by, and Bart woke up after his owner started petting him. "Mom, I’m trying to take a nap!" Bart complained. Which of the following sounds like something Bart would say? A. "I'll give you lots of pets in the morning." B. "It's 7 a.m., and I need my beauty sleep. " C. "If you can't play quietly, you can't play." D. "Are you ready for some attention now?"
