`The unendurable oppression of the lungs` (Feel) `the suffocating fumes from the damp earth` (Smell)
Hehe, du answer es in du beginning of paragraph 2. o;
for this first question or the second question
First question.
Answer to second question: `He is senseless and externally motionless; but the pulsation of the heart is still faintly perceptible; some traces of warmth remain; a slight color lingers within the centre of the cheek; and, upon application of a mirror to the lips, we can detect a torpid, unequal, and irregularaction of the lungs.`
This is the only simile I found for question 3: `Just as the day dawns to the friendless and houseless beggar who roams the streets throughout the long desolate winter night—just so tardily—just so wearily—just so cheerily came back the light of the Soul to me.`
im back sorry my mom got home and needed help
Welcome home, mum

As the narrator experiences fear, what techniques does Poe use to create suspense for the reader?
Poe creates suspense for the reader by using punctuation because it slows the story down which creates suspense.
^answer to question 4
What is happening to the narrator here? Use evidence from the text to support your answer
Quit checking us out, Ben

The narrator is terrified "You feel that I shudder.—My teeth chatter as I speak, yet it is not with the chilliness of the night—of the night without end. But this hideousness is insufferable. How can you tranquilly sleep? I cannot rest for the cry of these great agonies"
^hows dis for Q5

He's being doofed. I tink der burying him. Question 5 es asking what is happening to the narrator not how the narrator is feeling.
ohhhhhhhh ok so you think what he is experiencing is he is being buried
I tink so. Breh When it was mai time to complete dis assignment, I googled tew find a movie and got a clip garbage. e.e Better den reading et butt wateva
Wait..... He's not being buried. <\3 v.v
I think the Narrator is being buried i say this because the author explains how "The chilliness of the night—of the night without end" meaning all he see's is pitched darkness
e.e wait what

so the answer would be The narrator is i believe is dreaming i say this because he talks to a dead spirit with no name. i feel this is a spirit because it opened all the graves around him.
Breh. I was looking at the wrong paragraph. Please end me.
wait what e.e
XD lets go back a step and gather our selves
``` From the images of gloom which thus haunted me in dreams, I select for record but a single vision. I thought I was immersed in a cataleptic trance of more than usual duration and depth. Suddenly there came an icy hand upon my forehead, and an impatient, gibbering voice whispered the word "Arise!" within my ear. I sat erect. The darkness was total. I could not see the figure of him who had woken me. "Arise! did I not bid you arise?" "And who," I demanded, "are you?" ```
I believe it has the same answer. He met the spirit of death.
Q1: Here, Poe describes the sensations of being buried alive. What imagery does Poe use to help you hear, see, smell, and feel? Answer in your journal now. A1: Poe compares the silence to an overwhelming sea. (Hear) Blackness of absolute night. (See) The unendurable oppression of the lungs (Feel) the suffocating fumes from the damp earth (Smell) Q2: The narrator suffers from catalepsy, a physical condition in which the individual cannot move or speak for hours or, in extreme cases, for months. According to the narrator’s explanation, what are some of the ways that one can tell a cataleptic is still living? A2: He is senseless and externally motionless; but the pulsation of the heart is still faintly perceptible; some traces of warmth remain; a slight color lingers within the centre of the cheek; and, upon application of a mirror to the lips, we can detect a torpid, unequal, and irregularaction of the lungs. Q3: What simile does the narrator use describing his return to consciousness? What does the narrator suggest by using this simile and subsequent description? A3: Just as the day dawns to the friendless and houseless beggar who roams the streets throughout the long desolate winter night—just so tardily—just so wearily—just so cheerily came back the light of the Soul to me. Q4: As the narrator experiences fear, what techniques does Poe use to create suspense for the reader? A4: Poe creates suspense for the reader by using punctuation because it slows the story down which creates suspense. Q5: What is happening to the narrator here? Use evidence from the text to support your answer. A5: The Narrator is experiencing a conversation between him and the spirit of death.
He dreamt he met the spirit of death. Wai can't dey speak normally? <\3
Dey seem correct. cx
alright next question Finally XD
FUDGE The answer to question 5: The narrator is confused and curious about the unseen figure. The answer to question 6: The narrator is experiencing a conversation between him and the spirit of death.
How would you describe the narrator’s mental state? Are his actions rational?
The Narrators mental state is very weak "I found myself emerging from total unconsciousness into the first feeble sense of existence"
@Elsa213 hows this look
Weak and terrified. e.e
What techniques does Poe use in the second paragraph to build suspense? What is the effect on you, the reader?
Poe uses short sentences to make the suspension even worse. This affects me because it makes me feel worried about the character but also intrigued to see where the story goes.
Based on the descriptions here, what has happened to the narrator?
I believe based on the description's and story i think the narrator is deceased i say this because the narrator has had conversations with death and he explains how "I could no longer doubt that I reposed within a coffin at last. And now, amid all my infinite miseries, came sweetly the cherub Hope—for I thought of my precautions. I writhed, and made exertions to force open the lid: it would not move. I felt my wrists for the bell-rope: it was not to be found."
Yerppp Gewdie o;
How does changing sentence structure from long to short and choppy help build suspense? What emotions do you feel as you read?
I believe making the sentences short and choppy makes the story build suspense because it makes the reader slow down and pay attention to the story. It also makes me feel the character/Narrator has a short of breath making them sound terrified.
Wat were du emotions yew felt doe? Were yew scared, sad, surprised?
I believe making the sentences short and choppy makes the story build suspense because it makes the reader slow down and pay attention to the story. It also makes me feel the character/Narrator has a short of breath making them sound terrified. Having the narrator sound terrified made me feel scared but also worried that the narrator was going to die.
What has happened? If you were the narrator, what would you feel hearing these voices?
If i was the Narrator and i was hearing these voices i would have been terrified and would have gone crazy.
The narrator explains how the circumstances of his night aboard the boat paralleled the circumstances of his worst fears. What are the similarities that he experiences?
hmmmmm
@Elsa213 do have any ideas
I think the similarities would be that he had to sleep in a coffin which is similar to being buried.
The narrator undergoes a major change. What did the narrator do in light of his experience on the sailboat? Do you think his reaction is a typical one of someone facing their fears?
