\({\bf{Vocabulary:}}\) Verbs: 讨价还价 (tǎo jià huán jià) to bargain ex: 我不想讨价还价 = I don't want to bargain 买 (mǎi) to buy 卖 (mài) to sell notice that the character for "to sell" is just a cross above the character "to buy", and also notice that they are pronounced almost the same except the tone 完 (wán) to finish in the context of buying/selling things, you can say 卖完了 --> "sold out" 收 (shōu) to take in in the context of this unit this will be used to refer to taking a certain currency, ex: 我不收美元 = I don't take USD 换 (huàn) to exchange again, referring to currency, ex: 我想换我的人民币 = I want to exchange my RMB 回来 (huí lai) to return to a place

Money: 钱 (qián) = money 人民币 (rénmínbì) = chinese money, also called yuan. 1 yuan is like 15 cents. 美元 (měi yuán) = USD 银行 (yínháng) = bank good way to remember this, it has the same left-radical as "money" and the right radical as "very", so a bank has "very much money" 数 (shù) = number, in the context of this unit we're talking about a "good number" like 8, so 很好数 = a good number, for example 质量 (zhì liàng) = quality, so we can talk about an item being good or bad quality, like 这个不好质量

Misc: 老板: (lǎo bǎn) this word technically means "boss" but it's also used to address someone you're trying to buy from, like a vendor 多少 (duō shǎo) how many? combines 多 meaning a lot, and 少, meaning few/a little 特别 (tè bié) special, so you can say a particular item is special 照顾 (zhào gu) to give someone a deal the way these characters are used in the dialogue: 你买特别照顾 = "you're buying (so) I'll give you a special deal" 百 (bǎi) 100 meant to put this in the previous comment but 块 (kuāi) = chinese money, this word *sort of* works like "bucks" in that you put it after the number designating the quantity of money 种 (zhǒng) = type of item, so 那种太贵了 = that kind is too expensive 最 (zuì) = at most (if you put 少 it turns into "at least since you're making "less" into its superlative by adding 最) , ex: 最少一百块 at least 100 RMB 发 (fā) = to get rich 附近 (fù jìn) = nearby

source: these notes aren't out of a textbook but they're adapted from my prof's lecture notes also I'm garbage at bargaining but apparently you're supposed to cut whatever price they offer in half, then work your way in between that price and the original price with the 老板
