what is correlation coefficient in child psych?
@Vocaloid
|dw:1550121772463:dw| basically it describes how much one variable can be explained by another variable so two un-correlated variables would have a correlation coefficient of about 0 while two highly correlated variables would have a CC close to +1 or -1
|dw:1550121840276:dw| so if you look at the r^2 = 1.00 example, that's two perfectly correlated variables, and as you get closer to 0 the variables become less and less correlated
wait so it is like a t or p value? Or is that different?
hm, no, from what I remember t- and p-values describe how far the data is from the expected mean or proportion ( i think, it's been a while )
Oh okay so its jut basically if two variables are very much similar its a higher number and if they are different a lower number
uh sort of, if they are strongly positively correlated, r^2 approaches 1 if they are strongly negatively correlated r^2 approaches -1 and if they show weak correlation it'll be close to 0

I see i understand now its just that chart where one is the dots going in an upward position and its positive correlation being + and then one where it shows the dots going down so its - and then no correlation with dots scattered being neutral or no ?
oh lol same thing
