dennyla:

A city water tank holds 20 gallons of water. A technician empties 25% of the tank. How many more gallons of water must be removed from the tank so that it has of the water that it started with?

SteampunkSubmissive:

that is literally not possible if you remover 25% and you keep emptying you can get what you started with unless you add to it

dennyla:

how many gallons would he have to remove to get 2/5

Vocaloid:

it wants to know how much water we must remove, such that the end amount is 2/5 of the original amount 2/5 of 20 is (2/5)(20), or 8, in other words we have already removed 25% of the original amount, or in other words, we have already removed 0.25*20 = 5 so overall we have 20 - 5 - (x) = 8 where x is the amount we still have left to remove solve for x
