There are a couple of ways you can approach this but I would perssonally convert them to the same exponent

For ex you can convert 4.18 * 10^-8 to the power 10^5 if you just move the decimal place on 0.04 to the left 13 times.

When they’re in the same power you can just cancel out the 10^5 from both terms and divide the rest


Then you’d typically want to covert the result back into scientific notation
