Sun and water
Lots of plants are hard to grow in this climate/sandy soil. I would suggest making sure to see what plants can be grown in this climate if you are doing an outdoor garden, and also the same for indoor. Some indoor plants may have difficulty getting the correct amount of light they need, and they may also be a bit picky with their soil. Make sure to avoid using too much fertilizer! Too much actually rots the plants at their roots. Also, some indoor plants are similar to having a child picky with their food. I've found that the cool environment is not very good for some plants, and watering too often can result in mold or insects. If you happen to find yourself with some fruit fly looking insects around the house, you should first make sure to check your drains, but they often are attracted to indoor plants. Spray your plants with a bit of soapy water (very little soap) about once a week and it should be okay. Don't spray into the soil, just a little over the top of it and let it shower over the plant. It can also be helpful for outdoor plants sometimes, but not always, and try to avoid spraying your veggies with soapy water! Regarding outdoor plants, one major thing is to note the back of seed packets. Seed packets often show a diagram of when to plant the seed in the state/area you currently reside in, how much sunlight they need, and sometimes how much water they need. Also, outdoor plants in areas with lots of sunlight LOVE mist. I've grown blueberries, roses, potatoes, etc. in a variety of soils, but they absolutely love mist. Also, a fun thing to think about is although it's hard to grow things in soils that are mostly clay, the plants love clay soils! It's likely the minerals deposited by the clays. Anyways, lots of random info. I hope I helped a bit :D
