Cupcake123456:

15=a/3 -2

AngeI:

This is a over 3 right?

Cupcake123456:

@AngeI

SteampunkSubmissive:

or divided

AngeI:

That is why I am asking

misty34:

\[\frac{ a }{ 3 }\]

AngeI:

@Cupcake123456 is it that? ^

Cupcake123456:

yes

AngeI:

So you would add 2 to both sides

AngeI:

Can you show me what that looks like?

Cupcake123456:

a=15

Cupcake123456:

is the answer

AngeI:

Im trying to have you do it step by step so you have a understanding of it <.<

Cupcake123456:

I did it on my paper

Cupcake123456:

AngeI:

You wouldnt subtract 3

AngeI:

The first step is correct

AngeI:

a/3 can also be put as 1/3a

AngeI:

It makes it easier

Cupcake123456:

so instead of subtracting 3 i do what?

AngeI:

15=1/3a-2 Subtract 2 from both sides 17=1/3a Then you would have to multiple both sides by the opposite of 1/3 which is 3/1 or just 3 17*3=1/3a*3 51=a a=51

Cupcake123456:

Ohhh so i was backwards

Cupcake123456:

but my paper clearly has 51a

AngeI:

I didnt even look at the final step, but you said a=15 so

AngeI:

Also it would always be a=51 not 51=a You can get marked wrong for that, so at least you got something out of this
