What inference can be made from the analogy that King makes in his speech? The Declaration of Independence is no longer a relevant document for contemporary politics. Without civil rights, African Americans are denied full participation in a democracy. Americans have forgotten the promises that are spelled out in the Declaration of Independence. Unalienable rights are denied when there is not sufficient funding for all Americans. Done I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King Jr. (excerpt) In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, in so far as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Wizard people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

old question but will respond so this can be closed notice that this speech is an extended metaphor in which King compares the government to a bank. the government has "written a check" (promised to grant its citizens rights) but the government has "defaulted" (not fulfilling their obligations) by denying these rights to black Americans. with that in mind, which of the four choices is the most in line with what King is trying to say with this metaphor?
