first step is to remove the outliers. in order to do this you need to calculate the Q1, Q3, and the IQR to do this, first find the median (the middle # when you list the numbers from low to high) then, divide the data set into all data points below the median and above the median. the median of the set below the median is Q1 the median of the set above the median is Q3 IQR = Q3 - Q1 and any values above Q3 + 1.5*IQR and any values below Q1 - 1.5*IQR must be removed after removing outliers, calculate the mean of the remaining values
