I think I may be allergic to kiwi but, I'm not sure. I ate 1 kiwi yesterday and my tongue and lips hurt/ became numb, my throat was starting to hurt too, can I have a 2nd opinion though?

Hanna:

Oh I'm sorry. Kiwis are so great anyways so you wont be missing out on much lol. But yeah I would say that you're allergic to them. Just don't eat them again. No one wants something bad to happen to you. :)

Awe but, I like kiwi, I'm sad now, Lol. But, I have 1 kiwi left in the fridge, I'll share that kiwi with my dad, If I eat half I don't have any symptoms, Only when I eat 1 full kiwi I start getting a burning numb feeling to my tongue and lips. I think I'll be fine eating half of this last kiwi, I don't want the kiwi I have left to go bad. As long as my dad isn't allergic, I'll share, or save the other half for another day. Thank you.

dude:

Go to an allergist. Wearejustpeopleonlinewhohavenostrongknowledgeofthis It could be an allergy but just head to one to make sure. I personally am allergic to milk, believe me kiwi isn't bad (:

skybear:

I have a lot of food allergies but if you felt hot and had burning sensations. It is most likely an allergic reaction. It also could've been something you ate earlier.

misty34:

Thank guys, I'll get that checked. I didn't have the burning symptom until I ate more than half of the kiwi . I'll tell my parents about this and go to an allergist. I appreciate your opinions on this, I thought I had an allergic reaction and just wanted some opinions before I done anything else.

Possibilities- 1. You are actually allergic and should see an allergist 2. Was it always like this or is it recent? If it was always like this (for several years), it is undoubtedly something to do with allergies. However, if it is recent, it most likely is not an allergy as allergies are controlled by our innate immunity, which is present from conception. 3. If you strongly think it is an allergy or some form of a bodily reaction, compare your blood pressure before eating and after eating (the moment you feel the reaction coming on) as histamines get released during allergic reactions. Histamines act as vasodilators and increase vascular permeability. If you don't know how to check your blood pressure, as yourself if you are suddenly feeling weak, lightheaded, or about to pass out. This means your blood pressure is low, and it is possible it can be traced to histamine levels, thus an allergy. However, don't use this as a final call for whether or not you have an allergy to kiwi; blood pressure can only act as an indicator and can be due to several other factors. 4. Is there a problem with the kiwis? Are you the only person dealing with the symptoms? 5. Now, if you are experiencing the symptoms recently but still strongly feel it's an allergy, it COULD be possible as some allergic genes display cross-reactivity. 6. *Very low chance*: A somatoform psychological disorder, but I doubt it completely. My main suggestion, like all the others, is to go and check with an allergist or your physician, as our opinions carry no credibility whatsoever.
