n the early first century, the Romans started viewing Judaism and Christianity as two separate religions. Constantine and his brother-in-law Maxentius fought for control of the Western Roman Empire. After Constantine won the war, he outlawed the persecution of Christians. Later, he became a Christian himself. Constantine’s support contributed to Christianity’s rise in the Roman Empire.
