AllisonKookie:

Adele is driving her car near the Tri-State area. She covers a distance of 221.05 miles in 4 hours. She then stops at a diner, and drives 83 miles more at the same speed. What would be the best estimate of the time she took to cover this last distance? A. 2 hours B. 2.5 hours C. 1.5 hours

Ferredoxin:

First, calculate the speed she was driving on. Speed=distance/time distance=221.05 miles Time=4 hours Units are important 221.05/4 =55.263 mph Now it says at the same speed she's driving 83 miles more. You can use a proportion to solve this. 55.263 miles/1 hour = 83 miles/ x hours Cross multiply 83=55.263x x=1.502 1.502 is closest to option C, 1.5 hrs.
