What is the reflection image of P(0, 0) after two reflections, first across x = 4 and then across y = -3? https://dlap.gradpoint.com/Resz/~0.YJZ4B5XcvlgKwuFB.SNoLza7MzsPOJ2LU4NCm5lf3NSWrIepzEYv8pYPN1dU/11335527,A01,111,0,0,0,0/Assets/testitemimages/geometry_b/transformations/mc032-1.jpg (8, -3) (8, -6) (8, 6) (4, -3)

lovetearia:

@jhonyy9

jhonyy9:

any idea ?

lovetearia:

8,6 ?

jhonyy9:

first of all what is P(0,0) ?

lovetearia:

what do you mean

jhonyy9:

what is this point with coordinates (0,0) ?

lovetearia:

0

lovetearia:

is the answer d

jhonyy9:

|dw:1559600803161:dw|

jhonyy9:

where is the (0,0) point ?

lovetearia:

in the middle

jhonyy9:

is the cross point of axe x with y yes ?

jhonyy9:

how name this point ?

lovetearia:

idk

jhonyy9:

do you heard about origine ?

lovetearia:

yeah

jhonyy9:

this is the central point of axe x and y

jhonyy9:

so and now what you make first ?

lovetearia:

idk still

jhonyy9:

first reflect this point of origine across axe x where x = 4 so where will be than this point ?

lovetearia:

-3,4

jhonyy9:

no please first step by step so across x=4 than where you get the origine ?

jhonyy9:

from point of origine till x=4 are 4 units - yes ?

lovetearia:

yeah

jhonyy9:

ok so when you reflect the origine point across x=4 by 4 units where will get it ?

lovetearia:

where do i start from

jhonyy9:

push the origine point on the right part of x=4 by 4 units so where will get it ?

lovetearia:

ok

lovetearia:

ok whats nexts

jhonyy9:

no whats next - tel me please where you get it on what point of x = ?

lovetearia:

4

jhonyy9:

no you start it from x=4 on the right part by 4 units so where will be than ?

lovetearia:

so do i go up or down i dont know what to do

jhonyy9:

i ve said on the right bc. first you reflect it across x=4 so this mean on the right on axe x

lovetearia:

ok go up or down

jhonyy9:

@Vocaloid please help me make understanding thank you

lovetearia:

everyt time i do 4 it goes to 4

jhonyy9:

how ? number from x=4 so 4 units on the right part on axe x so wheer you arrive ?

lovetearia:

i get 4

lovetearia:

do u know the answer

jhonyy9:

start with 4 so 4 units : one unit is 5 ,second is 6 ,3-d is 7 and 4th is what ?

lovetearia:

8

jhonyy9:

exactly - sorry but i dont wan give you the right answer without you understand it

lovetearia:

ok lets keep going

lovetearia:

8 is x now we have to find y

jhonyy9:

yes

jhonyy9:

now attention please - so you know that the origine point is in the x=8 and you need from there reflect it across y=-3

lovetearia:

ok

jhonyy9:

so than where will get it in this way ?

lovetearia:

6

jhonyy9:

looke in the diagramm there are axe ox and oy yes ? and now you ve get that the origine point is in the x=8 and from there you need reflect it across y=-3 so where will get it ?

lovetearia:

umm

jhonyy9:

|dw:1559602613879:dw|

lovetearia:

-3

lovetearia:

8,-3

lovetearia:

i have another one im going post it

jhonyy9:

looke please from this x=8 you need reflect it the origine across y=-3 not is right wait i give you explication

lovetearia:

ok

lovetearia:

so its not 8,-3

jhonyy9:

from 8 on down till -3 how many units you see there ?

lovetearia:

12

jhonyy9:

no now you need numbering on axe y bc. you reflect it down

lovetearia:

im lost

jhonyy9:

why ? is exactly same like across x=4 just now you reflect it across y=-3

lovetearia:

hold up

Tranquility:

Hi, let me try to explain it to you in a different way. Do you know what exactly reflection means? Here's a graph of the point (0,0) and the line x=4 |dw:1559603197642:dw|

jhonyy9:

@Tranquility thank you all your help - i go bc. here in central europe is in the night at 1,09 oclock hope you will can explain her bye bye

Tranquility:

Good night jhonny, thank you for your help

jhonyy9:

allways is my pleasure bye bye

lovetearia:

ok im back

Tranquility:

|dw:1559603781769:dw| Do you see this? This is basically what we're doing

Tranquility:

So when we first reflect across the line x = 4 we are at (0,0) we're only looking at the x-coordinate (x-coordinate, y-coordinate) we see how for away the x-coordinate of the point is from the line and we move it the same distance to the other side of the line. That is called reflecting across a line. When we reflect across the y=-3 line, we will be moving up or down because it's a horizontal line. So we see how far the y-coordinate of the point is from the line and we move the point that same distance on the other side of the line. Does that make sense?

Tranquility:

@lovetearia

lovetearia:

idk
