In the selection from Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad, how is Odysseus transformed from an epic hero into a common man?
Well in the novel, Penelope speaks about what she sees in Odysseus, she retells his actions and his emotions when he was with her In the first few chapters, she described him as a normal man whom only wanted to appeal to what others expected him to be. Since he was an all-mighty ruler, it was expected that he were more dominant over his (now wife), Penelope. The night they married it turned out that he was very kind to her and clarified his view on what need to be done in the night, they didnt have intercourse but he told Penelope to moan to make others think he was being dominant (since the people would've been hearing to see how Odysseus handled his wife; masochism) Overall, he was very respectful to Penelope, this was just one v specific example
