. Define and give examples of the following terms. • First person point of view • Third person point of view • Limited narrator • Omniscient narrator • Reliable narrator • Unreliable narrator
First Person -> I went to the park Second Person -> You went to the park. Third Person -> Jason went to the park Limited -> Jason went to the park Omniscient -> The town felt that they needed to go to the park.
Third person and Limited is the same thing
I can elaborate more in like...20min
As you can imagine, first person is the character viewing themself. I am going to the mall. Second person is the character viewing someone else. You are going to the mall. Third person is someone viewing the character. Jack is going to the mall. Limited and unlimited (omniscient) are aspects of third person. Limited means that someone (the narrator) is viewing only that one person. Unlimited or omniscient means that the narrator is viewing everyone, which means that not only will the narrator know the feelings and wishes of Jack, but Emily and Veronica as well.
They all wanted to go to the mall would encompass an unlimited third person view.
what about Reliable narrator and Unreliable narrator
@Shadow
That's the one I was unfamiliar with. I looked it up and the distinction is actually quite simple. A reliable narrator is objective, whilst an unreliable narrator is subjective. You can judge the reliability of a narrator on the basis of their capacity to be impartial.
