brooklynnm:

Dr. Bhatia mixes 2 liters of a 5% saline solution with x liters of a 9% saline solution. The table shows the amount of each solution used.

Hero:

Hello @brooklynnm Welcome to Question Cove. Where's the table?

brooklynnm:

Hero:

Okay you've shown the table so what is it that we have to find? I don't see that posted anywhere.

brooklynnm:

What is the value of x?

Hero:

Okay, hang on a minute...

Hero:

Okay, so all you have to do is just take the totals of each mixture and add them together and solve for x: In other words 0.1 + 0.09x = 0.64

brooklynnm:

thanks so much

Hero:

You're welcome. BTW, If you hate decimals, multiply both sides of the equation by 100. Then you will get 10 + 9x = 64

Hero:

And you can solve for \(x\) easy this way.

brooklynnm:

thanks

Hero:

Did you solve for \(x\) yet? If so, what did you get?

brooklynnm:

6

Hero:

Congratulations. You got it
