lowkey:

Read the statement below and respond with your opinion to the statement. 'It's too bad if consumers get ripped off in the marketplace. It's their own fault for buying the stuff. There are too many laws and too many government agencies that we are paying for with our taxes. It should be "Buyer Beware!"" Explain why you would agree or disagree with this statement.

Gdeinward:

I disagree, mostly because this statement sucks. It does not present accurate facts, and it has seemingly biased opinions.

LilChris:

yes

chicken25:

I disagree, because the government needs the money to help the economy grow even though they aren't doing so much they still are doing somthing

mhchen:

There are multiple statements within: "It's too bad if consumers get ripped off in the marketplace. It's their own fault for buying the stuff" implies that if a consumer bought a product at a price much greater than the market price, it is not the fault of the seller who may or may not have purposefully extorted the buyer, but entirely the buyer's fault. You can support this by claiming the buyer initially consented to the price that the seller made. You can refute this by claiming in what way the seller has a fault in this. "There are too many laws and too many government agencies that we are paying for with our taxes" implies that the seller has a burden of many restrictions to follow, and taxes too big for the seller to be lenient in dealing with money. You can support this by giving examples of absurd laws that sellers have to abide by, or which taxes that the seller has to pay for which are unfair. You can refute this by criticizing how this relates to being the buyer's fault. "It should be 'Buyer Beware!'" implies that buyers should take responsibility for the prices they're agreeing to pay. You can still support or refute this claim with many examples. After all, if a buyer spends as much money as he wants, they can also go broke quickly. and if a buyer is unable to buy anything because the prices are too high, they're unable to survive.
