DwightH:

Jamal owns a parking garage and is trying to find the relationship between hour of the day and number of cars in the garage. He finds that between 4 am and 10 am he can model this with a linear relationship. The equation for this model is y = 3.96x + 2. About how many cars are entering the garage every hour?

Gdeinward:

ideas?

DwightH:

slope?

Gdeinward:

thats correct. though you have to be careful with rounding in this situation. What would you round it to?

chicken25:

no clue

DwightH:

same

Gdeinward:

well what are the answer choices?

DwightH:

A) 1 B) 2 C) 3 D) 4

Gdeinward:

I would say 3 because you cant have .96th of a car.

chicken25:

i would say four

chicken25:

idk

Gdeinward:

can you take the test multiple times?

Gdeinward:

@misty34

DwightH:

only one time after this but idk if i may have accidently reset it already

Vocaloid:

3.96 is much closer to 4 than it is to 3, which is why estimating the slope as 4 is a more accurate representation of the situation

Gdeinward:

thanks for clearing that up. I didnt know what was best.
