A geologist and a biologist performed an experiment together and examined the data. Each scientist formed a different conclusion. Both conclusions were supported by the evidence. How is this possible? Both conclusions are the same but have different wording. If more than one conclusion is supported, the hypothesis is invalid. There can be alternate explanations for the same evidence. Each conclusion is based on different data.
i think that it is There can be alternate explanations for the same evidence.
They both consider the data in their own area or expertise. The evidence could be high traces of coprolite (fossil poop) buried in sediment, which was analysed. The geologist compares this data to other sediments in other areas and concludes that there was heavy rainfall 1.4m years ago which washed the organic material down from a nearby mountain where the material is most prominent. The biologist compares the organic material to a database of stored coprolite and concludes that the area may have been populated by a specific group of animals.
The unanimous conclusion is that the poop is from a type of animal, which populates the nearby mountain and/or surrounding areas.
