misty34:

I need help with photoshop. I tried cutting a specific part from an image but, I don't completely know how to do it and I can't watch a youtube video on it because, it's blocked, And the cut out part I tried putting in Indesign for an assignment. does anyone know how to do this?

Vocaloid:

Make sure you’re on the right layer, lasso around what you want, copy paste into indesign?

misty34:

I select the part I need to use but, I'm not sure what the next step is to get only that part that I selected over to Indesign, I tried once and the whole picture ended up in Indesign when I tried adding it

Vocaloid:

hm well you could try copy-pasting what you need into a new photoshop document, export, and insert that into InDesign

Vocaloid:

idk it's been a while since I've worked w/ this

misty34:

I'll try that next time I'm in class, thank you. I tried reading this: https://photoshopcafe.com/cut-anything-photoshop-3-best-ways-remove-backgrounds-photos/ But, it kind of confused me because, I didn't know what some of these were for or where they are yet, I'm new to working with this, It said inverse but, I'm not sure where the inverse icon is when I was about to try using this article to help

Vocaloid:

control shift I

Vocaloid:

if that doesn't work try select --> invert selection or something like that

misty34:

Alright. Thank you, I'll try this next time I have class

JSVSL7:

Are you forgetting to deselect a previous selection and thus it won't let you? When I was learning I got confused for nearly an hour (!) when trying to lasso things around bc I forgot to deselect my previous selection, haha

misty34:

I dis selected the rest and only had a portion selected but, didn't know then next step

JSVSL7:

Wait, so did you comoplete your selection or is it not letting you fully complete it? Lasso can be confusing, it was in fact the most annoying part when I learned

JSVSL7:

complete*

JSVSL7:

If it isn't letting you delete a selection, check your layers. Are you on the right layer? Also, is your layer rasterized or a smart object?

misty34:

It sometimes selects a part I don't need selected

JSVSL7:

Ah i see, so if you want to undo that *while selecting* (and not when you've fully completed your selection), just hit the backspace and it will go to the previous point

misty34:

Thank you

How similar is pixlr to photoshop?
