Two steps from hell :3 + epic music

Shadow:

@Gdeinward I watched Kodi's first performance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAPkOxRnh4c), and he does have amazing vocals. It's definitely inspirational to see someone like him up there on that stage (for those that don't know, he's blind and autistic, participating in America's Got Talent). The reason why it's so inspirational is because it shows that if he can endure those challenges and make it onto that stage (and win the show by the way), then that leaves no excuses for us. I also checked out Gerry Rafferty - Baker street (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsXjCp_f1h4) and that iconic triumphant saxophone is truly something (:

Gdeinward:

I couldnt have put it better myself

adovbush:

Hanz zimmer Europe - The final countdown Happy I'm listening to happy cause i am indeed happy cause i bought my car yesterday :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Shadow:

@dude Belong by Slenderbodies was a pleasant surprise. No offense dudes (in the general sense), I'm going into each song with little to no expectations. An optimal mindset in my opinion, when exploring music. And quite honestly, this has made it onto my chill playlist. I listened to it twice without notice cause of YT autoplay lol. Link for anyone who wants to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI9cZyhDJOU Overall, great vocals and catchy beat that isn't overly saturated in pop nonsense = awesome song.

adovbush:

I like that @Shadow

adovbush:

Belong

Shadow:

@Vocaloid I checked out Main Theme - Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz0-xcOY_8c) aswell as: Professor Layton & The Curious Village Soundtrack - Layton's Theme (Live Version) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiHKGmb7_jA). The first song reminded me of the Imitation Game soundtrack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyezUnJnYYQ) which many years ago I listened to endlessly before I even watched the movie (which was quite good by the way). I think what they both have in common is that the song takes you on a journey, which is proper when something is imagined for a game or movie. Both are stories, and they wear worth listening to. The second song holds the key element that I mentioned with the previous song. The only thing I'd add is that I imagined (along with the other song), that these would be perfect songs to write to. Because when I'm listening to them, my mind can't help but start crafting a tinker town of sorts with a nature of controlled madness almost. I also feel that if someone set a choreograph to this, it'd be pretty amazing.

Shadow:

I'll get to the rest of the responses a bit later (:

Shadow:

@BenLindquist I have to admit, I have a lot of nostalgia for the songs I used to listen to growing up. Whenever you come across them in YouTube recommendations, it's kind of amazing.

Shadow:

@AngeI Yes that one's my favorite (:

Shadow:

@Pixel I have to say, there's something to Post Malone. I'm not too much of a fan of pop in general due to the predictable and dramatic nature of the lyrics. Yet I think there's something relatable about Post Malone, making him an artist that a lot of people can connect to. The song Pixel was referring to: Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding (Audio) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5GrxfjuTTI) Something you always find in his songs is solid vocals. The beat is just the icing on the cake. Which you find quickly in this one: Post Malone - A Thousand Bad Times (Audio) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul-9U681Y2c) Obligated mention of this solid song: Post Malone, Swae Lee - Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApXoWvfEYVU) Great movie, great song, enough said.

Shadow:

@cathrinerose23 I've never been much of a fan of country/Southern songs (which you find in his accent, lyrics, and melody), but as someone who writes poems I appreciate the way they always seem to weave emotion into it. And in a lot of cases, their lyrics are more redeemable than pop songs (such as your recommendations mention of "ladies first."). For anyone who wants a listen to: Dylan Schneider - Wannabe (Official Audio) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7boV6F9VCwQ)

AngeI:

The song Let me down slowly is good It's a mood rn

Shadow:

@adovbush Europe - The Final Countdown (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw) This is one of those classic songs from before many of us were born that were legendary enough to live into our generation. For good reason too, it's simply iconic. As for Hans Zimmer, I have been a fan of this man for a long time. Ever since I watched Inception, I was fascinated with the thought of worlds within worlds. This idea was already introduced to me from the fantasy laden books I read in the fiction aisles at my library. Yet that movie took it to the visual level that competed heavily with my imagination due to that soundtrack. This also answers @mhchen 's question. I often listen to Hans Zimmer - Time in an existential manner that burrowed deep into the personified nuance of ones individuality. It's something that I do almost ritualistically every so often, using this specific video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxabLA7UQ9k His work in Interstellar is similarly captivating and amazing - the songs of which I utilized in a similar manner as I did with Time from Inception. The man is simply a genius.

NAGC:

The regrettes and billie eilish along with Hamilton

Shadow:

Will answer the rest of these tomorrow probably.

Shadow:

@ThisGirlPretty Hmm, I don't have the time to listen to the entire Two Steps From Hell soundtracks that I found, but I did check out: Keith Beauvais - Quietude (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7eoUVvhPlE&feature=youtu.be) I can understand why you like it the most. In a world with much disquietude, we all find our places of solace. This song is likely that for you, in conjunction with possibly much more. The nerves relax, and your person sinks into the waves of those melodies. Such a peaceful song (:

Shadow:

@Divergent0997 Whilst the artists you mentioned were immediately recognizable, one of the songs by Bon Jovi was: Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk) I honestly don't remember when I first heard it, or where it even was. But I feel like most of the people my age came across it in one way or another. It's just another one of those legendary songs of the past that makes it way into today. A song anyone can enjoy in my opinion, since it is a party song (:

Shadow:

@NAGC As requested from chat, I listened to: Billie Eilish - wish you were gay (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaJx0Gj_LCY) and The Regrettes "Pumpkin" [Official Lyric Video] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GzEFVgz4NE) If you check the link out for the first one, you can see the picture that was depicted for the entirety of the video. Quite an interesting depiction of Billie. It obviously comes off as a form of insanity, with a consuming gaze. This, in conjunction with the title, suggested an almost insidious motive. The beat is predictable and pulls you in, washed over with vocals of similar elements and superb quality. It made the song slowly seductive, and the image almost preps your mind for openness, in my opinion. As any human who sees another with that appearance is trying to discern why, becoming inquisitive. The second song also had an interesting image, although not nearly for the same reasons subtly I presented for the first. Undoubtedly an amazing voice. And the nature of it all made me quite curious. A little girl with a hatchet, carving or threatening a carved pumpkin, but expressing adoration towards it. All meanwhile saying, "you're going to kill me." I think it's just depicting a consuming relation where the vocalist needs the other in that absolute necessary sort of way. A want that turned into a need. I don't usually pay attention to lyrics but something about it made me want to. Cool stuff though (:

AngeI:

What about mineeeee

NAGC:

reee

Shadow:

@AngeI I listened to: Alec Benjamin - Let Me Down Slowly(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50VNCymT-Cs) I disagree with the song in terms of the premise it sets. This person is in a decline yet asks to be let down slowly. This suggests that someone else is responsible for the decline, and furthermore that this person cannot do anything about the decline that they're experiencing. It's not a particularly uplifting song due to this, although the vocals and lyrics do great work. Another thing to note is that the voice does not match the face, as someone astutely noted in the comments. Makes it a bit disorienting on that front. Back to my general point though. I'm a fan of individuals realizing that they control the majority of what happens to them. Humans are defined as a species by our capacities (and its extent) to influence change within our domain, and in others domain. Thus in effect, this song makes a human to be much less than what they actually are. Something that is of little to no consequence. Hardly the truth, yet a thesis delivered with a proper set of lyrics, and voice to match.

AngeI:

Hrm, should I suggest a diff song?

Shadow:

All of these are good songs in terms of the vocals and lyrics. But I'm not going to say that to every person who asked me to listen to something they value, so instead I delve into my perception of the song and video. The intention of the post wasn't for you guys to link me songs that I would like, but instead to share something that you valued and I would share what I think. If you want to share another, that's fine though (:

AngeI:

Uh, Lost In Japan e.e

Shadow:

@AngeI So this is clearly a paid promotion for Japan. Kappa I listened to: Shawn Mendes, Zedd - Lost In Japan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAWzXkV3hHo) My first experience with Shawn Mendes was his Hot Ones interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh4kio5hYn8). The interviews are entertaining, so I went in just to see how a young dude would take the hot wings. Learned he was a popular dude and had a chill personality. Back to the song -> It's pretty good. Similarly to Belong by Slenderbodies, it makes it onto my chill playlist. It's the list I use on those Saturdays when there's simply not much to do, so its all about just chilling. This song definitely foots the bill. He's got a great voice and the lyrics are catchy, yet they don't pop too much making it perfect for those chill days. I'm also a big fan of Zedd, and have been for years. That's probably a factor for why I like the song, since I'm a fan of a lot of Zedd's productions not just because of the astounding vocals that he brings in, but the beat. Also, you can see how I might like this song on the ideological side of it. He sees something that he wants and goes for it. We like the songs that we ourselves, emulate and value. And to me this song rings true.

NAGC:

I did by linking something that meant a lot about somone I loved so much and gave my all to fori wish you were gay. Pumpkin reminds me of the bliss and torture being surrounded by people who care and hate me feels.

AngeI:
