The piggy bank has (22,44,64) nickels and(24,34,45) dimes.

I never knew how to solve this properly, I just multiplied the number of dimes by 3 then subtracted 8 to see which ine fit e.e

Let # of nickels = n and # of dimes = d. Form two systems of equations, like @akshay said.

"A piggy bank contains $5.60 in nickels and dimes."
0.05n + 0.10d=5.60
"The number of nickels is 8 less than 3 times the dimes. "
n=3d-8


Now that you have two equations, use substitution and find the values of n and d.
