The boxplots show data gathered from asking 300 buyers of BMWs how old they were at the time of purchase. Answer each question, and explain your reasoning for your answers. 1. Which data set has the largest median? 2. Which data set has the largest range? 3. Which data set has the largest interquartile range? 4. Which data set might contain an outlier? 5. Which data set appears most skewed, and how is it skewed?
Hello welcome to QuestionCove cx Can you please add the data?
1. the median is the very middle line of the box plot (reference: https://miro.medium.com/max/18000/1*2c21SkzJMf3frPXPAR_gZA.png) 2. for range, see which box plot has the biggest difference between the maximum and minimum values, a.k.a the width of the entire box plot 3. largest IQR, look to see which graph has the longer box 4. for outliers, look for a box plot that has an unusually long tail on either end. this indicates a value that is significantly lower or higher than the typical values of the set 5. for skew, look for very asymmetrical box plots and the direction in which it lacks symmetry
I'm confused as to how you found this, but here have a medal
I'm answering using a generic box plot as an example. All box plots basically have the same construction because they're based on the same 5-number summary (minimum, Q1, median, Q3, and maximum).
I meant the question as it was asked over a year ago e.e
