Y=mx+b Do you know how to identify these?

Nicole:

the two points I chose are (2,2) and (3,3)

Nicole:

oh I thought first find slope?

AngeI:

Well slope is rise over run This is just up 1 over 1 cx

Nicole:

oh okay well the m is slope

Nicole:

what do i do now?

AngeI:

Rise over run is Rise (change in y) divide by run (change in x) The change to both of these is one So needless to say 1/1 is 1 So what's the y intercept?

Nicole:

1?

AngeI:

The y intercept is where it crosses the y axis It crosses at 0 So you dont even have to add it cx Your slope intercept form would be y=1x Do you get it?

Nicole:

Oh okay that makes sense

Nicole:

Write the equation of a line in point-slope form that is parallel to the line y = 3x +6 and passes through the point (-5, 8)
