Confucius is one of the most popular and influential figures in Chinese philosophy and pop culture. He has been a historical figure since his life during the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 B.C.). Known as the “Father of Philosophy”, Confucius revolutionized Chinese culture with his ideas on morality, particularly in the areas of politics and education. His values are of modern culture not only in China, but also worldwide. Confucius was born in the town of Tsou, Lu in 551 B.C. “He was born of a poor and common family, yet when he grew up, he was put in charge of the granary of the house of Baron Chi, and he was noted for the fairness of his measures” (Yutang 57). Confucius had experience in numerous areas. He worked various government jobs such as the Director of Public Works in 503 B.C and the Director of the Justice Department in 501 B.C. He was also a bookkeeper and a caretaker of sheep and horses which he used the money that he earned to give his mother a proper burial. “Chinese philosophy has always been concerned with practical questions of morality and ethics” (Cartwright, “Confucius”). working on history paper I am trying to add more to intro/ fix it so I can add on to my other paragraphs.
