I had to write one paragraph that summarizes clearly why banks are important to the U.S. economy and how government actions can affect how banks operate.

Banks are important to the U.S. economy because banks take in money deposited by people, and in return banks give interest based on the amount of money deposited. Banks also have an important role in offering different Financial Services like loans and other credit services to people who would like to start their own business. The government has agencies like the Federal Reserve that gives people protection against banks that go out of business or charge unfair fees.
